Pre-Season Questions and Answers
All you need to know when registering for Mantua BasketballUpdated Friday August 31, 2018 by Mantua PTA Basketball.
When is registration open? Shortly after school starts.
When will practice start? Practices start approximately late November.
When is the day my child will practice? Practice dates will be communicated to parents by approximately mid-November. Practices will be held Monday through Friday but the day of your child's practice day will be communicated once teams have been confirmed. The league CANNOT accomodate practice date requests due to the number of children in the league.
When will the season end? The regular season will end approximately at the end of February, followed by the playoffs which will occur around the first and second week of March.
What time will my son/daughter practice? 3/4 boys and girls practice start time are either 5:30 or 6:30pm and 5/6 boys and girls start at either 7:30 or 8:30pm. All practices are one hour.
When will my child have games? Most 3/4 boys and girls games are on Saturday and 5/6 boys and girls games are on Sunday. Occationally 3/4 boys and girls will have games on Sunday and 5/6 boys and girls will play Saturday evening. Games on Sunday will begin at 12pm and Saturday games will start at 9am. Once teams and coaches have been determined parents will be told of game and practice times (around mid-November).
How do I find out when my child will practice and have games? All practice times will be emailed to parents, email reminders will be sent regularly throughout the season and parents can always find practice/game information at www.mantuabasketball.org.
Can I choose which team/coach my child plays for? NO. Due to the number of players in the league it is impossible to guarantee which team/coach placement requests. The parent volunteer coach will have their son or daughter on their team.
I would like my child to play on a team with a friend or brother/sisiter? The league cannot guarantee placing a child on a specific team. Family members will likely be placed on the same team but there is no guarantee that they will be on the same team.
What teams will our child's team play? All games will be played against other teams within your childs division. All teams consist of students attending Mantua Elementary School. Four divisions 3/4 boys and girls and 5/6 boys and girls.
What if our son or daughter cannot attend practice or game? If your son or daughter will regularly miss practices this will delay the teams ability to progress and possibly the teams competitiveness in games. Consider your child's availability when registering. Attending practices are not required but certainly help with a positive experience during the season.
